About the role
Role Overview
1. Contribute to the formulation, implementation and review of rural development coordination policies and strategies in line with the Ministry’s mandate and national development imperatives. 2. Develop frameworks that enable the merging of rural modernization with economic structural transformation to achieve the Vision 2030. 3. Coordinate rural development initiatives across national, provincial and local spheres of government. 4. Promote rural development to move rural areas beyond basic subsistence farming. 5. Coordinate the execution and performance metrics of public sector rural interventions and report progress to enable factual decision making. 6. Promote inclusive economic growth and balanced regional development to bridge the gap between urban and rural economies. 7. Facilitate partnerships among public bodies, private investors and local communities to support localized rural development projects. 8. Provide technical input into the procurement of goods and services for rural development coordination programmes. 9. Superintend over the development of budgets and funding strategies for the department. 10. Manage a database for rural development coordination at national level. 11. Supervise, coach and counsel subordinates.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agriculture, Public Administration, Development studies or any relevant field.
- A relevant Master’s degree in the aforementioned field(s) is an added advantage.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience, of which two(2) years must be at Deputy Director Grade or equivalent level.
- A thorough understanding of national economic development frameworks and rural industrialization goals and strategic planning policies.
- Proven ability to collect, interpret, and analyze complex data to guide evidence-based decisions and strategy design.
- Strong inter-departmental and stakeholder engagement skills to align central and local government or private sector priorities
- Ability to utilize modern information and communication technology tools for tracking, designing, and evaluating development'
