About the role

Role Overview

Contribute to the formulation, implementation and review of Information, Communication Technology (ICT) policies and procedures in line with the Ministry’s strategic plan and national development imperatives;Provide guidance on Government wide policy guidelines and requirements and advise on technology trends, direction and best practices;Coordinate research, evaluate, and recommend appropriate hardware and software solutions to meet the Ministry’s needs; Manage an inventory of ICT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and peripherals;Facilitate the development of technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and user manuals for the Ministry;Superintend over the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans;Coordinate the provision of an efficient, secure, and reliable network infrastructure that meets data requirements of user Departments;Oversee the design, implementation and review of network infrastructure, network installations and configurations of computer hardware operating systems;Develop systems for the maintenance and monitoring of the LAN/WAN infrastructure, internet, switches and routers;Coordinate the development of budgets and funding strategies for the Department;Supervise, coach and counsel subordinates

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or Business Informatics or Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • A Master’s degree in the above mentioned field(s) is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years experience, of which two (2) years must be at Deputy Director Level or equivalent grade
  • Good working knowledge of Information Governance, risk and its application within IT
  • A clear understanding of Government ICT modernisation agenda/policy
  • A thorough understanding of ISO 2000 requirements for ICT governance advisory services
  • Knowledge of hardware, software and operating systems
  • A smart and strategic thinker
  • Ability to relate at highest level in the profession and beyond
  • Good leadership skills

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A character of high integrity
