Internal Auditor

ZIMSTAT seeks to engage a highly analytical, objective, and results-driven Internal Auditor to provide independent assurance and strategic advisory services designed to add value and strengthen Agency operations. Reporting on the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance frameworks, the role ensures that financial, operational, and statistical production activities comply with statutory regulations, Public Finance Management standards, and international best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct internal audits in alignment with the approved Audit Work Plan and Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) standards.
• Provide strategic input into the overall Audit Work Plan to ensure full coverage of all auditable activities across ZIMSTAT offices.
• Evaluate the adequacy and operational effectiveness of internal controls, recommending enhancements to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
• Monitor and assess organizational compliance with management policies, corporate governance principles, statutory regulations, and procedures.
• Assess control frameworks across departments and recommend operational improvements.
• Conduct site visits to provincial offices to perform planned compliance audits and assess local operational risks.
• Evaluate the adequacy and operational effectiveness of internal controls, recommending enhancements to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
• Monitor and assess organizational compliance with management policies, corporate governance principles, statutory regulations, and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance or other recognized certifications (CIA, CISA and CFE).
• Relevant Master's degree (MSc in Accounting and Finance, MBA, MSc in Forensic Accounting, or equivalent).
• Recognized professional designation (CA, ACCA, or equivalent).
